BRUME demonstrate the exceptional range of their songwriting with the emotional roller-coaster ride ‘New Sadder You‘, which is taken from their forthcoming new full-length “Marten” as the next single. The Bay Area goth-doom quartet’s third album is slated for release on May 3, 2024 via Magnetic Eye Records.
I wrote this song for Jamie after his father passed away.
When someone you love dies, you mourn the loss of that loved one, you mourn the loss of the old happier, lighter version of you, but that new sadder you only exists, because you were lucky enough to have someone unconditionally love you!
Watch the Official Video for “New Sadder You” below:
BRUME (pronounced ‘Broom’) are living proof that California is not all sunshine and easy living. The San Francisco-based quartet organically blends doom metal, goth, and indie rock into a sometimes monolithic, sometimes delicate blend of heaviness that resides firmly on the darker side.
After a decade of sultry sounds and hair-raising crescendos, BRUME push sonic experimentation and delightful genre-bending even further on their third full-length “Marten“. The expansion into a four-piece with the addition of Jackie Perez Gratz on cello and vocals has opened a cosmos of new possibilities that the Californians determinedly explore. Weaving soaring melodies over melancholic doom pop generates songs that are equally intimate and haunting yet also massive and crushing.
BRUME originally formed as a trio in 2014 when guitarist Jamie McCathie from Bristol, England began making music with bass player and vocalist Susie McMullan from Baton Rouge, Louisiana after discovering a shared passion for both trip-hop and sludge. The addition of Jordan Perkins-Lewis on drums completed the line-up with his rich and experimental style of drumming, and set the stage for the band’s recordings.
The trio quickly gained momentum with their doom metal albums “Rooster” (2017) and “Rabbits” (2019), the former being named ‘Album of the Year’ by The Ripple Effect and the latter earning the top spot on Wonderbox Metal’s ‘Best of 2019’ list. BRUME also left their mark onstage, appearing at Desertfest London in 2017 and Desertfest New York and SXSW in 2019, along with many more shows on both sides of the Atlantic.
On third album “Marten“, BRUME perfectly balance the melancholic power of the cello with forceful vocals and dueling guitar conversations. The complex mood swings that seamlessly move from sensuous and restrained to soaring and explosive found a perfect producer in Sonny DiPerri (EMMA RUTH RUNDLE, LORD HURON, PORTUGAL THE MAN). With the right engineer behind the board, the San Franciscans adopted a songwriting approach that emphasised poetry and lyrics rather than starting with a riff. This way of working uncovered a more vulnerable side of the band.
With “Marten“, BRUME take a bold step toward their musical future by challenging first themselves and now listeners to move from comfortable spaces toward more challenging, less familiar destinations.

Nocturna has released a video for “Seven Sins“, the first single taken from the new album “Of Sorcery And Darkness” set to be released on April 19th through Scarlet Records.
The sophomore record of the band founded by the formidable frontwomen Grace Darkling and Rehn Stillnight – featuring the Frozen Crown/Volturian/Be The Wolf mastermind Federico Mondelli as songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist – was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andrea Fusini at Fusix Studio; Rehn Stillnight took care of the delightfully grim artwork and illustrations.
Watch the Official Video for Nocturna’s “Seven Sins” BELOW:
The Witching Hour.
After the success of the 2022 mesmerizing debut album “Daughters Of The Night” – which mixed gothic-symphonic and power metal elements, alternating between fast & heavy neck breaking episodes and intense, piano-oriented ballads – Nocturna once again delves into the meaning of the term ‘duality’ and all its more morbid connotations.
The romantic inspiration of the lyrics of “Of Sorcery And Darkness” combines harmoniously with the band’s sophisticated sonic approach, and the celestial voices of Grace Darkling and Rehn Stillnight paint mysterious and sensual portraits of an ancestral time (yet so close to us).
It’s a solemn, sinister and never so lost paradise.
Embrace the night.
‘Of Sorcery and Darkness‘ will be released in the following formats: – digipack CD – vinyl LP – digital
‘Of Sorcery and Darkness’ tracklist: 1. Burn the Witch 2. Sapphire 3. Noctis Avern 4. Creatures of Darkness 5. Midnight Sun 6. First Disobedience 7. Seven Sins 8. Through the Maze 9. Strangers 10. Last Day on Earth
Canada’s most exciting metal band, UNLEASH THE ARCHERS, are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of their transfixing sixth studio release, the AI inspired concept album Phantoma, out May 10, 2024 via Napalm Records. The new album follows the band’s breakout 2020 album, Abyss, which won the Juno Award for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year after debuting at #1 on the US Current Hard Music and Top New Artist charts.
Frontwoman and lyricist Brittany Slayes conjured Phantoma’s concept in 2021; before the swarm of pressing commentary surrounding AI began to reach an all-time high. Led by the album’s protagonist Phantoma, a Phase 4 / Network Tier 0 unit – model A, the story recounts the trials of AI gaining sentience on a dystopian, near-future planet earth. With the band’s one-of-a-kind blend of power metal, traditional heavy metal, modern prog and pop sensibilities, UNLEASH THE ARCHERS spin a web of sharp musicality, high sci-fi concept and important social commentary about discovering the brutal truths behind the manufactured sheen of social media posturing.
Today’s album announcement kicks off with the release of its first single, “Green & Glass” – an unforgettable opus traversing the album’s dystopian concept with dynamic verses and prog-laden guitar work. Its innovative accompanying music video features Phantoma discovering new and harrowing realities, and was created using AI while still supporting traditional artists by having character models trained exclusively on a body of work licensed from artist Bo Bradshaw.
UNLEASH THE ARCHERS says about “Green & Glass“:
We struggled for a while to decide which song would lead the way for this record, and in the end chose ‘Green & Glass’ because it is the song that inspired the cover artwork, but also because it doesn’t give too much away about the concept behind the album. We wanted nothing more than to be able to create a fully cinematic retelling of the story through our music videos, and were so stoked when the boys at RuneGate Studio expressed an interest in learning how to use Stable Diffusion to make our dreams come true! They trained the model on the work of Bo Bradshaw, which gives it a beautifully unique animation style; we got to bring his magnificent t-shirt artwork to life!
Watch the remarkable official video for “Green & Glass” BELOW:
Following 2020’s triumph Abyss, which was dubbed by Bandcamp as “a mandatory listen” and named by Loudwire as one of the best rock and metal albums of the year, UNLEASH THE ARCHERS ascend with Phantoma. Defying controversy and bringing their imagination to life, UNLEASH THE ARCHERS utilized AI during the writing, filming, and production process on Phantoma, and weaved electronic and synthwave elements throughout the album’s 10 colossal anthems, which – in line with its theme – prove much darker and heavier in comparison to the bright positivity of Abyss.
Album opener “Human Era” sets the tone with imagery of a bleak, windswept futurescape that crescendos headlong into the breakneck pace of power metal bastion “Ph4/NT0mA” – a masterwork of dueling guitar solos and vocal acrobatics. Trad-metal influenced “Buried in Code” lights the way with pummelling rhythms before the album’s path turns dark on heavy metal hardered “The Collective“, with Brittany Slayes’ warm tones inviting the listener to ‘join or stand aside’! Hair-raising first single “Green & Glass” unveils the truth before the upbeat 80s flavored “Gods in Decay” and the extraordinary balladic anthem “Give It Up Or Give It All” showcase the varied song writing prowess of UNLEASH THE ARCHERS’ modern era. A trifecta of concept closers begins with the moody “Ghosts In The Mist“, leading into the soaring yet menacing “Seeking Vengeance” before closing with the bittersweet tale of “Blood Empress“.
Mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen, and with the lead guitarist Andrew Kingsley at the helm as both principal songwriter and producer, Phantoma is an exciting advancement in UNLEASH THE ARCHERS’ songwriting and storytelling mastery, and a giant leap forward in their towering musical trajectory.
Phantoma track listing: 1. Human Era 2. Ph4/NT0mA 3. Buried In Code 4. The Collective 5. Green & Glass 6. Gods In Decay 7. Give It Up Or Give It All 8. Ghosts In The Mist 9. Seeking Vengeance 10. Blood Empress

In support of their upcoming record release, LEAVES’ EYES have also announced an extensive touring schedule kicking off in March, find all live dates listed below!
Four years after bringing “The Last Viking” to Valhalla with their previous opus, LEAVES’ EYES resurrect with “Myths Of Fate” to celebrate their 20th year of existence. As the first singles such as “Forged By Fire“, “Realm Of Dark Waves” and the premiere of “Who Wants To Live Forever” prove, with their ninth studio album, the Germany-based act consolidates their leading position in the symphonic metal universe. Powerful, epic and impressive – the band once again merges traditional metal genres by fusing elements of folk, gothic, and classical music into a captivating sonic masterpiece!
With “Myths Of Fate”, the band set sails for new winds that definitely blow from the harsh shallows of the symphonic metal genre. The fantastic world of legends from Norse and Eastern European mythology is the setting for monumental entertainment: LEAVES’ EYES open up a world of magical places, spellbound weapons or supernatural creatures.
The band produced a total of five music videos with Mastersound Entertainment. Filmed on impressive locations in Iceland, Germany and Poland, they bring the myths captivatingly to the screen. Magic creatures, great battles and enchanting warrior queens come to live! Following the epic video for “Realm Of Dark Waves“, a new clip for the latest LEAVES’ EYES single, “Who Wants to Live Forever”, is available.
Watch the Official Video for “Who Wants to Live Forever”:
LEAVES’ EYES have always played in a league of their own. The international group has toured all populated continents, playing concerts in more than 50 countries, frequently reach top positions in the album charts and with every output they deliver a multimedia masterpiece when it comes to video clips and artwork.
In their multifaceted discography, LEAVES’ EYES naturally integrate various genres such as folk metal, Viking metal or symphonic metal into their unique sound creations. Legendary releases like “Vinland Saga” (2005) or “Njord” (2009) made them pioneers in their own league, a position they successfully confirmed with chart-breakers like “King Of Kings” (2015) or “Sign Of The Dragonhead” (2018). Their compositions are complex, though, always well balanced between heaviness and melodic atmosphere. Each of their mind-broadening lyrical concepts based on mediaeval mythology are thoroughly researched, offering their audience journeys to the past times of Vikings, myths and sagas.
Their live shows are spectacular events with breathtaking stage scenery, including a Viking ship or even the “Swords In Rock” monument from Norway. LEAVES’ EYES have been setting world history to music and undeniably, by doing so, have raced to the top of the symphonic metal tree.
Now, Alexander Krull once again exceeded his own standards in the producer’s chair. For the fine and complex compositions you will find on “Myths Of Fate”, he created an extraordinary and crystal-clear sound sphere with an undeniable live feeling. The band sounds raw and feisty, but still leaves space for affective atmospheres. The US soundtrack-multi-talent Jonah Weingarten contributes the impressive orchestral score that was created hand in hand with the metal arrangements. Moreover, Lea-Sophie Fischer (Eluveitie) on the fiddle and Thomas Roth’s play of the mediaeval Nyckelharpa add on mystical sounds to “Myths Of Fate”.
LEAVES’ EYES have created an entire universe of their own imagination that showcases their talent as storytellers and music perfectionists. No doubt, the band will leave an everlasting footprint in their own genre with this album. “Myths Of Fate” provides a dynamic soundtrack for a vivid escape into a magical world of mythology!

Following previously-released songs, “Siren’s Call“, “Drag Me To Hell“, an epic cover version of Sabaton’s “Bismarck” or just recently, their powerful title track “Of War And Flames“, today, ALTERIUM are premiering a music video for their latest single “Crossroads Inn“, a metal tribute inspired by the popular medieval tavern simulator video game!
In cooperation with video game creator Klabater, the following statement has been released:
“Welcome to Delcrys, adventurers!
The doors of the fantasy tavern are now open! To celebrate the arrival of the second chapter of the iconic video game ‘Crossroads Inn,’ Alterium wrote and recorded a track inspired by the lore of the game.
Crossroads Inn is a real-time management sim set in the immersive fantasy world of Delcrys. Players must build, manage, and expand their tavern, catering to the needs of adventurers from far and wide! The game is available on Steam, while “Crossroads Inn 2” has been announced and is currently in development – you can already add it to your wishlist!”
Singer and songwriter Nicoletta Rosellini comments:
I’m a huge fan of management video games, and I’ve spent hundreds of hours playing ‘Crossroads Inn,’ which also features great lore that inspired me to write lyrics for this track. I believe that power metal is the perfect genre to convey the funny atmosphere of a typical night at the tavern. We also recreated the whole scenery in our new music video!”
The song is now available on all digital services HERE
Watch the Official Music Video for “Crossroads Inn” BELOW:
Born in late 2022, ALTERIUM consists of vocalist Nicoletta and former bandmates Paolo Campitelli (guitars) and Dario Gozzi (drums) from Kalidia, soon joined by Alessandro Mammola (guitars, also in Draconicon) and Luca Scalabrin (bass, also in Altair).
After Kalidia parted ways, Nicoletta decided to take a different approach and finally unleashes her whole potential as both a singer and a songwriter. Produced by Lars Rettkowitz (Freedom Call), and featuring 9 original classy power metal tracks including the cover of “Bismarck”, “Of War and Flames” turns out to be a triumph of catchy choruses, terrific vocal lines, powerful sounds, strong guitar riffs, explosive drums, majestic choirs and captivating grooves, all skillfully mastered by Achim Koehler.
Fasten your seatbelts, as German modern metalcore upstarts SETYØURSAILS aren’t slowing down in 2024. After taking over stages at festivals like Summer Breeze and Full Force in 2023, the quartet is now set to drop their second studio album, Bad Blood, scheduled for release on April 12, 2024 via Napalm Records.
Jumping right into the pit with hard-hitting first single “Bad Blood”, SETYØURSAILS teams up with Zebrahead vocalist Adrian Estrella and showcases no mercy as modern electronic melodies and energetic screams build up to a top-notch breakdown. This new single and official music video follows the Cologne-based outfit’s recent announcement of their German co-headline tour alongside Rising Insane, kicking off in Leipzig, Germany on April 12. Tickets are on sale now, so get them while they last and experience the band’s unlimited live energy!
Vocalist Jules Mitch on Bad Blood:
This song is a personal reckoning that was more than easy for me to write. It reminds me that I’m stronger and more mature than my haters will ever be. You often get motivation from people who want to see you down. I hope they keep it up, I’m not done yet.
Adrian Estrella of Zebrahead adds:
‘Bad Blood’! The punch in the face you need when taken advantage of, this song has brutally beautiful verses with melodic, truthful choruses. I’m very happy to be a part of this masterpiece with SETYØURSAILS!
Watch the Official Music Video for “Bad Blood”:
After successfully dropping their acclaimed debut album, Nightfall, in 2022, German Metal Hammer dubbed SETYØURSAILS as one of the scene’s best newcomers. The unit, composed of Jules Mitch, André Alves, Henrik Kellershohn and Nicolai Hoch, followed with extensive touring with Annisokay, Emil Bulls, Cypecore and Lord Of The Lost. On this intense new offering, SETYØURSAILS unleashes a mixture of highly infectious tracks and relentless, electrifying atmospheres.
Jules Mitch says about Bad Blood:
With our new album Bad Blood, we are ushering in a new era in our band’s history. This album is louder, more aggressive and more honest than anything we’ve ever done before. It is another step towards self-discovery and healing. It covers various topics such as betrayal, mental health, but also sex and a lot of complex emotions. Topics we have never addressed before. We are ready for a change, for a new chapter. A new opportunity for further development.
Bad Blood kicks off with the charged-up banger “Bad Blood”, followed by the former standalone single “Best Of Me”, which was released alongside an official music video. The track represents the new chapter of the unit, pushing the boundaries of different genres while vocalist Jules Mitch skillfully unites both beautifully melodic and fiercely heavy passages. Created to play on repeat, the highly-infectious song “Bad Company” is dominated by smashing electronic beats combined with brutally melodic guitar lines and highlighted by a ground shaking breakdown. With tracks like “Lately” and “Heart Attack”, SETYØURSAILS lyrically shares their softer side by addressing personal conflicts and mental health concerns, and wraps the songs in a strikingly melodic atmosphere.
Prepare for a sonic onslaught as these German metalcore sensations gear up to unleash their second studio album, Bad Blood – promising a fierce and intense masterclass in modern metalcore.

Regina, Canada’s Kelevra has made a name for themselves in the national scene with their distinct and unique approach to metal, accompanied by a high-intensity live show. Recently they have taken time away from performing live to step back into the studio and create their third album “Oneiric”, which will be released in March 2024. The first single is the gripping “The Distance” – a story of hateful endings and love lost.
The band comments:
The bpm and varied technique required to pull this one off really demands the band be tight and ready, and it has become a standout track showcasing every band member firing on all cylinders. The nimble string gymnastics, push and pull feel in the rhythm section, and stops and starts on a dime really come together to show clever musicianship. The lyrics, vocals, and music interplay with an urgency that drives home the message of the track in a tight and cohesive unit.
For Kelevra, the writing process is different from song to song, but usually begins with a single guitar riff. With the luxuries of technology and home recording studios, it is also common for songs to be formed in their entirety by one or two of the members and then presented to the band. Each member of the band has considerable experience in other bands as well, so talent and professionalism run deep in this group.
As a band, they have always found music as a way to reflect and share their thoughts and opinions, whether it be directly or metaphorically. With tons of new material, together with an ever-evolving fast-paced, melodic, and heavy sound, Kelevra is set to take Canadian progressive metal to all-new heights in 2024. They recommended listening for fans of Chimaira, Lamb of God, and Unearth.
