Swiss heavy metal act BURNING WITCHES have shared a new track taken from their forthcoming studio album, entitled Inquisition, which is slated for release on August 22, 2025 via Napalm Records

Following the previously released album title track, this second single brings a powerful mix of classic heavy metal riffs and hard rock grooves to the band’s signature witch-themed metal offerings. “High Priestess Of The Night” features a memorable chorus as well as a tasteful and melodic ’80s-style guitar solo. One can be sure, the band is set to perform this and many other new tracks on their upcoming live dates that can be found below!

New Video From Folk/Heavy Metal Band PASSENGERS IN PANIC: “How To Breathe”

Passengers in Panic are here and they give us another taste of their upcoming album. “How to Breathe” unlocks the next chapter, the next story from the album “Amnesia“, which will be released on June 6th via Sleaszy Rider Records.

It’s a true story, it’s a testimony of the soul, a powerful reminder to our minds and souls. It was written about the relationship we develop with our own selves. About all those obstacles we put in our way because we simply forget what it means to give love to ourselves, what it means to be understanding of our feelings, what it means to give ourselves the space and time to breathe again, or rather learn to breathe again.

For this track, Passengers in Panic collaborated with Christos Antoniou, guitarist of Septicflesh, who did the string arrangements. The mixing and mastering was done by Psychonat Sound Abuse Studio.

TEMPERANCE Delivers Symphonic Passion on New Live Album, From Hermitage To Europe

Italian masters of modern melodic metal TEMPERANCE have spellbound their symphonic magic into a thrilling live album, From Hermitage To Europe, out March 14, 2025 via Napalm Records! Captured during the band’s latest extended tour supporting their album Hermitage – Daruma’s Eyes Pt. 2 (2023), the new live recording brings the magical village of Hermitage and fan favorites to life!

Now featured for the first time in live recording form, this story was first explored on the aforementioned full-length studio album, which has since also been released in its orchestral version, featuring many renowned guests such as Fabienne Erni (Eluveitie) and Laura Fella (Faun).

Immediately after touring all over Europe and the UK, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS surprises their devotees with another stunner and announces the upcoming digital live series Armada Live Over Europe. By releasing songs and respective live videos over the upcoming weeks, the international symphonic metal frontrunners keep the excitement at the highest level, starting the video series with “To Those Who Choose to Fight” and “The Land of the Free”. The live video captures the explosive energy of a VISIONS OF ATLANTIS live show and allows listeners to relive the matchless spirit of the past tour at home. Contemporarily on all digital platforms, the live album will take shape in five parts, starting today with the first two tracks. BURNING WITCHES bring back the vibe of 80s heavy metal and update their powerful force with renewed sonic clarity on their upcoming maxi-single, The Spell Of The Skull, set for release via Napalm Records on December 10, 2024! With screaming guitars, the Swiss band is back for a heavy metal blast session in the snow.

This time, they curse their audience with two new songs from their latest conjuring of witchcraft. Witchqueen Romana Kalkuhl hypnotizes your mind with her melodic riffs, while diabolic priestess Laura Guldemond conquers your soul with crowd pleasing shouts. Title track “The Spell Of The Skull” starts off with a short but mighty heavy guitar intro that perfectly sets up Laura’s powerful vocals, which especially shine in the chorus of the song, making it a true sing-a-long experience and creating an epic atmosphere pleasing every fan of heavy metal!

Italian Doomster MESSA Signs To Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade have added Italian Doomster MESSA to it’s worldwide roster.

MESSA play evoking doom metal with middle-eastern vibes. Deliciously haunting female vocals, 70’s guitars and Arabian Oudh combine to conjure a sound that is all of their own. With influences as diverse as Dead Can Dance, Om, Swans, Killing Joke, Electric Wizard, Thergothon, Current 93, the band has moved from the first occult then noir-tinged doom metal of their previous works to a new atmospheric mediterranean sound which is unique. The evolution is clearly showcased in their latest studio album “Close”.

MESSA emerged in the first day of 2014. Marco and Sara started to develop the basic concept while writing the first songs. Later on, Alberto and Rocco joined the band. The extreme diversity of their musical background immediately proved to be essential in the construction of the band’s sound. In 2016 their first opus “Belfry” was released, and the band made several tours across Europe and USA. In 2018 their second work “Feast For Water” brought the band on tour even more extensively. Their latest studio work “Close“, released in 2022, was acclaimed by critics and was defined “the sound of a band fleshing out their place in doom metal’s past, present and future” (Metal Injection). Some appearances made by the band were Hellfest Open Air, Roadburn, and Desert Fest. The band’s latest record Live At Roadburn was released April 7th 2023, offering their main-stage triumph, joined by a unique constellation of musicians and instruments. Seeming to both embrace and defy everything it means to be a metal band, MESSA mesh Mediterranean sounds with crushing doom riffs, with an emphasis on atmosphere and unusual use of instrumentation.

LACUNA COIL Announce New Album “Sleepless Empire” & Reveal New Single “Oxygen”

Italian metal titans announce their 10th studio album, SLEEPLESS EMPIRE, their first collection of new songs since 2019’s Black Anima, with their new single Oxygen. The new song comes with a mesmerizing new music video, filmed in Latina and directed by Daniele Tofani, that shows singer Cristina Scabbia in the lead role.

Cristina Scabbia commented on the track and her experience filming the video:

“Oxygen” is a powerful exploration of emotional struggle and inner conflict. The lyrics convey a sense of drowning in a toxic environment, both literally (in the video) and metaphorically, where attempts at salvation, represented by “oxygen” are somehow futile. This song encapsulates the feeling of struggling to break free from what holds us down, when the journey is filled with difficulty. It’s a raw anthem of vulnerability, resilience, and the courage to face what seems insurmountable. Having to stay in the water for so many hours during the video shoot was cathartic for me, the realisation that the pleasant sensation of floating could in an instant become dangerous and deadly if I wasn’t careful was very fitting with the song’s theme.

Inspiration to create Sleepless Empire came during the sessions for Comalies XX (2022), the acclaimed remake of their breakthrough record of the same title. Writing and recording took place in northern Italy between Milano, the band’s hometown and Como, where SPVN Studios are located. As with their previous albums, production was done in house with Marco “Maki” Coti Zelati at the helm, and artwork was hand curated by the talented Italian artist Roberto Toderico. Two other very special talents enrich the album, namely the guest vocalists, Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe on the song “Hosting the Shadow” and New Year’s Day’s Ash Costello on “In The Mean Time”.

As a token of the band’s love for the gaming world (which we’ve seen in past endevours such as their card game “Horns Up” and their collaboration with Zombicide for which they wrote the track “Never Dawn”), the band have created an oracle “game” to be played with custom made dice available only in the box set version of SLEEPLESS EMPIRE.

The new album comprises 11 new tracks; and each one is a richly textured soundtrack to a specific time and a place. With Sleepless Empire, that place is dark, cinematic, and unmistakably true to the unique characteristics that have given Lacuna Coil such a celebrated entry in the annals of heavy music.

Sleepless Empire captures, through our eyes, the chaos of a generation trapped in a digital world that never stops, where social media consumes identity and every day pushes us one step closer to becoming soulless zombies. We find ourselves in between, having witnessed a full analogic world and the modern one, confronting the evolution and searching for a true meaning of it all. Throughout every song, the journey is an undercurrent of rebellion, a desperate cry to reclaim oneself in an era that seems to have lost its sense of time and reality.
