KELEVRA’s New Video “The Distance” Puts A Progressive Spin On Hateful Endings

Regina, Canada’s Kelevra has made a name for themselves in the national scene with their distinct and unique approach to metal, accompanied by a high-intensity live show. Recently they have taken time away from performing live to step back into the studio and create their third album “Oneiric”, which will be released in March 2024. The first single is the gripping “The Distance” – a story of hateful endings and love lost.

The band comments:

The bpm and varied technique required to pull this one off really demands the band be tight and ready, and it has become a standout track showcasing every band member firing on all cylinders. The nimble string gymnastics, push and pull feel in the rhythm section, and stops and starts on a dime really come together to show clever musicianship. The lyrics, vocals, and music interplay with an urgency that drives home the message of the track in a tight and cohesive unit.

For Kelevra, the writing process is different from song to song, but usually begins with a single guitar riff. With the luxuries of technology and home recording studios, it is also common for songs to be formed in their entirety by one or two of the members and then presented to the band. Each member of the band has considerable experience in other bands as well, so talent and professionalism run deep in this group.

As a band, they have always found music as a way to reflect and share their thoughts and opinions, whether it be directly or metaphorically. With tons of new material, together with an ever-evolving fast-paced, melodic, and heavy sound, Kelevra is set to take Canadian progressive metal to all-new heights in 2024. They recommended listening for fans of Chimaira, Lamb of God, and Unearth.

Chilean/Belgian vocal powerhouse Dani Hart isn’t just another rock singer; she’s a force to be reckoned with. Laser-focused on conquering the hard rock scene, Dani unveils the first single from her upcoming EP, titled “After I’m Gone.” The music video, premiering today, adds a captivating visual element to the already powerful audio experience.

Dani Hart adds:

This single is a sneak peek into the intense energy and emotion we’ve poured into ‘Slaying Bluebeard.’ It’s a sonic journey that takes you through the nostalgia and unpredictable twists and turns of the Artist’s Way, daydreaming about opportunities and appreciation that never seem to arrive—a song written in the solitude of a worldwide lockdown.

Watch the VIDEO for “After I’m Gone”:

Anticipation builds for Dani’s 2024 EP ‘Slaying Bluebeard’, scheduled for the end of the summer and co-produced by Dani Hart, Anton Mergaerts (Velvet Mist, Cardinal, Scavenger) and Yarne Heylen (Carnation, Nervosa, Schizophrenia, Warbringer). This EP, mixed by Bob Briessinck from Breeze Inc Studio (Off The Cross, Epica, Scavenger, Black Narcissus) and mastered at Project Zero Studio, promises to be a game-changer in the scene.

Brace yourself for a sonic journey – a blend of dynamic riffs, infectious melodies, and razor-sharp vocals, complemented by soul-stirring power ballads. If you’re a fan of HalestormThe Pretty Reckless, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, or Pink FloydDani Hart is your next musical adventure.

But that’s not all. Dani’s expertise extends beyond singing; she’s also a vocal performance coach, sharing her craft with (semi) pro singers and aspiring artists who want to unleash their inner stage beast. Stay tuned for an EP that promises not just music but an eargasmic experience, all crafted by an artist and coach who truly understands the essence of empowerment.

Dani Hart is not just your average rock and metal singer; she’s a name worth remembering.

With a career spanning over a decade, she has collaborated with renowned bands and artists, notably contributing to Ghost’s Dance Macabre viral cover by Off The Cross and friends. The ensemble featured names such as Kris Martens (Tangled Horns – Diablo Blvd.), Jason Bernard (King Hiss), Coen Janssen (Epica), Casper De Decker (Hamelin, Rānn), Servaas Steurbaut (Bizkit Park – Bulls On Parade), Jonas Wolf (Eluveitie – Illumishade), Isaac Delahaye (Epica), Jan Coudron (King Hiss, Carneia), Alex Agnew (Diablo Blvd.), Sven De Caluwé (Aborted), Jeroen Vranken (Arson), Jeroen Camerlynck (Fleddy Melculy), and Simon Duson (Carnation).

Her musical journey began as a young teenager, captivated by Axl Rose’s electrifying vocals and stage performance in the Appetite For Destruction and Use Your Illusions albums. Since then, there was only one road for her. Recently, she has showcased her talent by covering some of her favourite singers on her YouTube channel, Dani Hart Music.

Dani’s upcoming EP, ‘Slaying Bluebeard’, stands as a testament to her versatility and unwavering commitment to delivering a transformative and empowering musical journey.

American Doom Outfit FRAYLE Signs Worldwide Contract with Napalm Records

Fast-rising American doom outfit FRAYLE have officially joined forces with Napalm Records, signing a worldwide contract with the premier Austrian rock and metal empire.

Cleveland, Ohio’s FRAYLE crept onto the scene after forming in 2018, helmed by original members Sean Bilovecky (guitars) and Gwyn Strang (vocals). Since then, the band has been lauded by fans and media critics alike, merging the heaviness of occult-driven doom and blackgaze with Strang’s distinctively eerie vocal stylings. FRAYLE has since expanded into a four piece, welcoming drummer Jon Vinson and bassist Jason Knotek to the fold, allowing the band to fully realize their “lullabies over chaos” musical vision. Noted first by Revolver Magazine as a band to watch in 2023, and then again by Knotfest for the coming year, the band continues to invigorate their already buzzing sway on the scene. Following gloomy performances in Europe and the United States at festivals such as Damnation, Desertfest, Soul Crusher, Gloomnar, Post Fest and Inkcarceration, FRAYLE vows to enrapture audiences with new music in 2024.

FRAYLE says about the signing:

We are thrilled to be joining the incredible team at Napalm Records. Napalm has always been the label that artists strive to be a part of and we are honored to bring our unique blend of heavy witch gloom to their impressive roster.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to say we are extremely fortunate to be part of the Oracle Management family, and are grateful for them helping us realize our goal of signing to Napalm Records. It was Oracle’s existing relationship with Napalm that helped to seal the deal. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Sebastian Muench, Senior A&R at Napalm Records, adds:

FRAYLE have been enchanting their fans with their unique way of interpreting doom metal since 2017. Their artistic vision and past live performances have fascinated us and enticed us to work together as partners on the next step in the band’s career. I can guarantee that the new studio album will be simply amazing!

Top 10 Metal Albums To Look Forward To In 2024

The year has only just begun, but we already know that there are plenty of upcoming releases to be excited about. While some of them are still shrouded in mystery, we have put together a short list of the albums we think you should be keeping an eye out for in the months ahead. Here is a quick rundown of the hottest new albums that 2024 has in store (in no particular order).

10. Elettra Storm – Powerlords

Fans of epic power metal should be in for an absolute treat when Elettra Storm’s debut album “Powerlords” arrives on February 16th 2024. Combining the glory of early 00’s era metal from Rhapsody of Fire and Stratovarius, with the more modernised styling of female-fronted bands like Frozen Crown and Unleash the Archers, the Italian outfit (spearheaded by SinHeresy co-founder Davide Sportiello and Crystal Emiliani on vocals) are definitely poised to make their indelible mark on the sub-genre. This much is clear if first single “Higher than the Stars” is any indication to go by. We can’t wait to hear more!

9. Dragonforce – Warp Speed Warriors

While we’re on the subject of epic power metal, it doesn’t get much more epic (or cheesy for that matter) than British power metal band Dragonforce. Having already released two great singles in “Power of the Triforce” and “Doomsday Party”, we pretty much know what to expect from this one. Alright let’s be honest, we knew even before hearing these two songs. And if you ask us, we couldn’t be happier! Heavy metal doesn’t always have to be serious after all. Our inner geek can’t help but be appreciative of the multiple pop culture references either. “Warp Speed Warriors” (featuring Alicia Vigil on bass and backing vocals) is set to drop on the 15th March 2024. See you at the party!

8. Exit Eden – Femmes Fatales

If we were to predict an album’s success based on star power alone, then sophomore album “Femme Fatales” by the multinational symphonic metal band Exit Eden would certainly be a sure-fire hit. The ensemble is an undeniable supergroup, consisting of Clémentine Delauney (Visions of Atlantis), Anna Brunner (League of Distortion) and Marina La Torraca (Phantom Elite). And while we’re a little saddened to hear that Amanda Somerville (Trillium, Avantasia) will not be returning on this album, the lineup is still plenty strong, and we fully understand her reasons for not being involved. Fans of the previous album will be happy to know that the band will still be covering international hit songs, but perhaps even more exciting is the addition of original compositions this time around, such as first single “Run!” featuring Marko Hietala (ex-Nightwish bassist/vocalist). Either way, we won’t have to wait long to find out as “Femme Fatales” is speeding towards us on 12th January 2024. Get ready!

7. Illumishade – Another Side of You

Illumishade have returned to brighten (or should that be darken?) our 2024 with their second album “Another Side of You”, which promises to be an even bigger event than their smash-hit debut album “ECLYPTIC: Wake of Shadows”. Featuring Mirjam Skal (synth/orchestrations) and the always brilliant Fabienne Erni (vocals/keyboards), the Swiss progressive metallers are preparing to deliver something very special on this record. In their own words, they are aiming for the music to “carry you to places unknown”. And judging by the two extraordinary singles released so far (“Enemy” and “Here We Are”), we think they might succeed. “Another Side of You” is due to drop on February 16th 2024, and we will definitely be showing up to listen to it – rain or shine!

6. Leaves’ Eyes – Myths of Fate

Fancy some symphonic viking metal this year? Then never fear because Leaves’ Eyes have got you covered. Their ninth studio album “Myths of Fate” will be raiding your speakers on the 22nd March 2024, and features the hit single “Forged By Fire” that was first premiered to a live audience at Wacken in 2023. The song tells the story of the legendary Tyrfing sword. Although the title could just as easily be applied to lead vocalist Elina Siirala, who faced a difficult trial when first joining the band due to the controversy surrounding the departure of Liv Kristine, but thankfully was undeterred and has emerged stronger than ever. And for that we raise our drinking horns and let out a hearty cheer!

5. Infected Rain – Time

Our excitement levels for this album have reached fever-pitch. Off the back of three spectacular singles, “Because I Let You Go”, “Dying Light”, “Never To Return”, which incidentally are the opening three tracks of new album “Time”, we are simply holding out for the rest of the album to drop now on the 9th February 2024. The album is the follow-up to the widely acclaimed and immensely popular “Ecdysis”, and witnesses the return of the ever-versatile frontwoman Lena Scissorhands (vocals), along with introducing the newest member Alice Lane (bass). We believe that Infected Rain have yet another winner on their hands, and with any luck “Time” should prove us right on that!

4. Amaranthe – The Catalyst

Speaking of time, who can believe that Swedish alternative modern metal band Amaranthe have been going for nigh on 15 years now? We suddenly feel very old. Thankfully they still sound just as energetic and youthful as ever. In fact, fans can pretty much expect to hear more of the same as Amaranthe have not varied the formula much in their career, and this is unlikely to change on their 7th album “The Catalyst” either. But that’s in no way a criticism (If it aint broke… etc). Elise Ryd is in incredible form on the most recent single, “Outer Dimensions”, hitting almost stratospheric high notes from the outset (as she is so famous for doing in her career). We cannot wait for this album to be a catalyst for helping us to achieve some of our New Year’s resolutions, because you can’t help but get fired up and motivated while listening to this band. Roll on February 23!

3. New Years Day – Half Black Heart

We were just speaking about the new year. How’s that for another segue? But on a serious note, it’s with great pleasure that we can add New Years Day to this list as the original line-up reunites to bring us “Half Black Heart” on 1st March 2024. As you can imagine, such an event “holds a deep significance” for lead vocalist Ash Costello and also promises to revive the signature sound that originally defined their music. Judging by the first single, “Secrets”, this certainly appears to be accurate. And for that we can all be grateful!

2. Alterium Debut Album

Last year we received the sad news that Italian power metal band Kalidia had disbanded. But it turns out that this might have been a good thing ultimately, because now we can celebrate the outstanding new power metal project by ex-Kalidia frontwoman Nicoletta Rosellini. While the new album has not yet officially been announced for this year, we think it’s a safe bet that we’ll hear something about it very shortly. In the meantime, we have two excellent singles to hold us over, with “Siren’s Call” and “Drag Me To Hell” proving that there is still plenty of reason for us to be cheeful!

1. New Nightwish Album

A new album by these symphonic metal titans is obviously a very big deal in the metal scene (though we’ll admit that our hype around this event has diminished over the years). We know very little at this stage, only that it is supposed to be coming – but even that is not set in stone. Yet we are still nervously excited about this one. Emphasis on the ‘nervously’. Most of us here have been longtime Nightwish fans, but their last effort “Human. :II: Nature” was a particular low point from our perspective (in what has been a gradual decline for several years). But we still hope and dream of the day that the band can recapture the magic and creativity of their earlier days. And this next album is another opportunity for them to display that. However, the early signs are admittedly troublesome. Marko Hietala (bass/vocals) will be sorely missed. And with only two original members remaining, the band has become almost unrecognisable now. The overbearing folksy influence of Troy Donockley on their sound hasn’t exactly helped matters either. Here’s hoping they can prove us wrong!

Dutch melodic metal band Pandora’s Key releases single and music video “Falls the Shadow”

Let Pandora’s Key guide you to a dark realm of melodic metal, where explosive and enchanting music weaves tales that echo long after the last note has faded. The band releases its second single “Falls the Shadow”, in preparation for the release of their first full-length album “Yet I Remain”.

“Falls the Shadow” is an explosion of sound and emotion. The track, inspired by T. S. Eliot’s “The Hollow Men” and the closing aria from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, draws its intensity from these lyrical classics. A new outlet for the age-old feeling of despair in the face of crises.

“Between the rise and the fall
Between the curtain and the call
Between the shroud and the pall
Falls the Shadow”

Pandora’s Key – Falls the Shadow

Watch the new video for “Falls the Shadow” below:

About Pandora’s Key and ‘Yet I Remain’:

Dark and intense, full of compelling melodies and catchy riffs. Pandora’s Key narrates mythical themes and links these to modern day issues. The band is ever searching for the beauty in the dark.

Melodic metal band Pandora’s Key was established in 2016 in the Dutch city of Breda, releasing the (inter)nationally well received debut EP “Prometheus Promise” one year later.

A period of growth and change followed, culminating at the start of the Covid era. Tackling the challenges presented by this period head-on, the band emerged more strongly connected than ever. The result of this is the debut album “Yet I Remain”, a celebration of musical liberty and passion. It is an album that explores the connections between seeming contradictions, between walls of sounds and quiet introspection, classical storytelling and primal emotions, violence and beauty. The result is an ambitious entry into melodic metal, threading the line between complexity and catchiness that demands the listener’s engagement. The album is set to be released on the 27th of January 2024, coinciding with a release show in home city Breda.

Pandora’s Key are:
Vera Veldhuizen – clean vocals
Rik van Schaaik – heavy vocals
Sebastiaan Pongers – lead guitar
Bram Luiken – rhythm guitar
Regine Lotstra – bass
Dimmy Marcelissen – drums

Eclectic Metal Trio Neocracy Unleash “Torment” Video in Anticipation of Upcoming Album

German metal band Neocracy have just released their new single “Torment“, along with a brand new music video, giving fans a taste of what is to come from their forthcoming as-yet-untitled album. The album will serve as the follow-up to their 2022 release, “Pure Organic“, and if the successor shapes up to be similar, then expect the 3-piece outfit to continue on their mission of defying musical boundaries and traversing a varied mix of musical styles, as they deftly incorporate elements of heavy metal, hard rock, nu-metal/hip-hop, country and folk.

At the core of their music, however, and a constant that never changes, is an authenticity and organic feel to their compositions that you simply cannot fake, and this also shines through in their emotional lyrics and vocals. They are clearly doing this for the love of their craft. In fact, “Pure Organic” was originally intended as a project for themselves, and was never meant to be released to the public. But then something magical happened within the studio, and Neocracy realised they had to share the result with the world.

Now the time has come again to spread their latest musical accomplishment.

Watch the new video for “Torment” by NEOCRACY below:

Neocracy was formed in the summer of 2020 by father and son duo, Volker Pannek and Tim Pannek, and lead vocalist Franziska Stolze as a way to mainly pass the time during the Covid-19 pandemic. But what started out as a casual project quickly became more serious as the band members poured their heart and soul into each composition. With each of them recognising the value of what they had produced, in no time at all they had agreed on an official band name (a combination of the words ‘new democracy’), and suddenly “Pure Organic” was a reality!
