Legendary Austrian Crossover Unit KONTRUST Unveil Dystopian Second Single “the end” & Animated Music Video

Austrian crossover legends KONTRUST have released their second new single, the standout track “the end”, off of their highly anticipated upcoming fifth full-length, set to be released on November 3, 2023 via Napalm Records! On the band’s first album in nine years, KONTRUST present new vocalist Julia Ivanova and new drummer Joey Sebald, who already won over live audiences in the summer of 2022 at huge festivals such as Graspop Metal Meeting, Hellfest Open Air, Barcelona Rockfest and Resurrection Fest.

“the end” is out alongside a creative animated music video that supports the dystopian lyrics of the song. German Pagan Metal Force VARG Drops New Single, “Eisenseite”, and Official Music Video

VARG, Germany’s top-notch pagan metal force, returns stronger than ever on their new album, entitled Ewige Wacht (Engl. Eternal Vigil), to be released on October 13, 2023 via Napalm Records. Today, the wolves prove their standing as a firmly rooted, leading entity in the scene once more by unleashing the brand-new single “Eisenseite”, cut from the new offering. After dropping the first single, “Immer Treu”, “Eisenseite” is another powerful hymn that showcases how much singer Fylgja has been involved in the full album this time. Her valkyrie-like singing expands the band’s sonic spectrum and forms a perfectly harmonizing contrast to Freki’s razor-sharp screams and growls.

Accompanied by a matching music video, the song transports Nordic mythology as well as values like honesty and loyalty, which also symbolizes the album as a whole.

With their last and most successful record to date, Zeichen (Engl. Signs, 2020, #16 in the German album charts), VARG put the thematic and musical focus completely on their pagan roots. On their brand-new brainchild, the wolves follow this path unwaveringly, honestly, authentically and raw, and impressively manifest their reincarnation and matchless standing on top of the scene! 

Songs such as “Schildmaid” (shieldmaiden), “Immer Treu” and “Fylgja” are emblematic of the striking interplay between both vocalists and the path VARG have been treading since Zeichen. “Weltenfeind” (enemy of the world), “Tyr” and “Hammer” resound as powerful hymns, uncompromising with mercilessly brute nagging and cutting riffs. UK Alt-Metal Act VEXED Drops Visualizer Video for “Lay down your flowers”, feat. Lochie Keogh/Alpha Wolf

After releasing their second beast of an album, Negative Energy, earlier this year, UK alt-metal outfit VEXED grace their fans with a new highlight, taken from their critically acclaimed offering. Today the band presents a visualizer video for the furious song “Lay down your flowers”. The track features special guest and Alpha Wolf vocalist Lochie Keogh and impresses with extreme vocals and bombarding drums.

As one of the hottest newcomers in alternative metal, VEXED have received great attention with recent Negative Energy and singles like “Anti-Fetish”. Ukrainian Metal Firestarters IGNEA Announce Tour Dates and Release Live Experience Video

After releasing their latest studio album, Dreams of Lands Unseen, uprising Ukrainian metal band IGNEA is ready to take to the stages of the EU and UK supporting Fear Factory. But before embarking on that journey, the fearless five-piece will go on a charity tour throughout their home country of Ukraine in cities, including those that are close to the frontline, fulfilling the words of their president Zelensky stated in February 2022: “you will see our faces, not our backs”.

To hype their fans up, IGNEA have released a live experience video for their song “Daleki Obriyi” (Далекі Обрії’), sung in their native language. It was filmed at the Faine Misto festival in Ukraine – the biggest festival to happen in the country since the beginning of the war – with around 15,000 visitors over the course of three days. At this event, funds for the needs of Ukraine were raised.

As a winner at The Best Ukrainian Metal Act Awards (including “Best Ukrainian Metal Act 2020”) and having gained many millions of Spotify streams with fan-favorites like “Alga”, “Leviathan”, and “Jinnslammer”, IGNEA have already earned their status as an unmissable band-to-watch. The captivating concept album, Dreams of Lands Unseen, was released this past April via Napalm Records, and considering the ongoing the circumstances of the war, the album exceeded all expectations – inviting the listener to follow them into new worlds!

Vocalist Helle Bohdanova comments:

Soon, it’s going to be two years of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine. We’re losing the bravest people who are freeing our territories and who also make it possible for such events as the Faine Misto festival to happen.

This one performance has charged us for months to come. It was the first music event of such a scale in Ukraine since February 2022. And it wasn’t happening just for fun — as it was a charity festival raising funds for the needs of Ukraine through ticket sales and auctions, and even workshops on tactical medicine, and mine and explosive hazard management.

We feel that this is much more powerful than some usual official video, especially for our song in Ukrainian language. Here, you can see Ukrainian metalheads living their moment. Any next minute, there can be an air raid siren, any next minute can be the last one. And we hope that you can feel this energy, like we felt it from the stage.

Modern Symphonic Metal Force TEMPERANCE Announces New Album

Italian maestros of modern melodic/symphonic metal TEMPERANCE will unleash their new concept album, Hermitage – Daruma’s Eyes Pt. 2, on October 20, 2023 via Napalm Records! During their successful European tour with Tarja (ex-Nightwish) this spring, the band introduced its new lineup and proved once and for all that this new arrangement is more than just convincing.

Expanding the characteristic sound of the band with a new member – professional opera/metal singer and vocal coach Kristin Starkey – the essence of charismatic singer Michele Guaitoli (Visions of Atlantis) and mastermind singer/guitarist Marco Pastorino (Serenity) reaches a higher level. Guest musicians like Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), Fabienne Erni (Eluveitie, Illumishade), Laura Fella (Faun) and Alessandro Conti (Twilight Force) complement the exciting journey of the new album.

Today, the five-piece have finally released their new single, “Daruma”, together with a colorful official music video that perfectly introduces the mood and exciting story of the multifaceted album. Galloping guitar passages open the single while the album narrator and multitalented Arjen Lucassen guides through the catchy melodies. The dark timbre of singer Kristin Starkey introduces the villain Anningan, who will turn the life of the album’s protagonist Viktor upside down.

Nicoletta Rosellini reveals new power metal band ALTERIUM

ALTERIUM, the new Italian power metal quintet led by Nicoletta Rosellini (ex. Kalidia, Walk in Darkness), has inked a worldwide deal with AFM Records / Soulfood Music!

Born in late 2022, ALTERIUM consists of Nicoletta and former bandmates Paolo Campitelli (guitars) and Dario Gozzi (drums) from Kalidia, soon joined by Alessandro Mammola (guitars, also in Draconicon) and Luca Scalabrin (bass, also in Altair).

Nicoletta says: 

I am finally happy to present you Alterium, my new power metal adventure. In the past months, we have poured our hearts and souls into crafting a debut album that harmonizes captivating melodies, powerful guitar riffs, and thunderous drums. Swiss modern metal upstarts ILLUMISHADE have signed a worldwide contract with Napalm Records! The premier Austrian rock and metal label is more than proud to welcome the five-piece to its ever growing roster. Describing the upcoming album, “Eveil,” ANTIPOD reveals a work that defies easy categorization. With a solid metal foundation, the band incorporates symphonic and progressive elements, infusing each track with a unique blend of epic and melancholic tones. Lyrically, the album explores a range of themes, both contemporary and timeless, conveyed through metaphor and vivid storytelling. “Eveil” is an invitation to embark on a colorful, unconventional, and diverse musical journey that articulates a range of emotions and resonates with listeners on a profound level.

ANTIPOD’s journey began as a solo project called Mythrillium, initiated by Sebastien, the band’s composer. After sharing his music creations with fellow musicians, they recognized the potential and suggested recording some tracks in a professional studio. Steven Segarra, the creator and guitarist of the band “Wedingoth,” played a pivotal role in this process, contributing guitar and bass lines and lending his production expertise. Sebastien enlisted several talented guests to add their vocals and guitar parts to the album, including Faustine, Julien LAGNIER, Fabien LACROIX, and Stéphane MONSÉRRAT.

The release of their first single received an overwhelmingly positive response, garnering airplay on over 300 radio stations and earning spots on physical mixtapes featuring French metal and music records. Encouraged by this reception, Sebastien made the decision to form a full-fledged band, produce a complete album, and deliver unforgettable live performances. Over time, ANTIPOD’s lineup has evolved, and today, the band consists of the following members:
