Swiss modern metal upstarts ILLUMISHADE unveil their magical sophomore record and Napalm Records debut, Another Side of You, out February 16 2024! Canada-based Cabrakaän are originally from Mexico and even though they live far from their homeland they aspire to share the mythology, traditions, and sounds of their home country with metalheads everywhere. With their latest album “Aztlán” they hope to give their listeners an immersive experience that draws them into a different world. The concept album features a fusion of multiple genres and is representative of the cultural integration that they evoke in lyrical and musical themes. The latest single “La Cigarra” ft. Reed Alton (Osyron) is a traditional mariachi song that Cabrakaän turns into a melodic metal masterpiece. They comment:

This song is a cover of a traditional mariachi song by Raymundo Pérez Soto. The lyrics represent the feelings an artist has whenever they sing. Their love of singing is so powerful that they are willing to die for it, just as the cicada (cigarra). The song features guest vocalist Reed Alton of melodic metal band Osyron performing a verse and some harmonies, and a guest violinist James Watson. As in the original, it’s vocally powerful – but with a distinctive metal turn.

Cabrakaän begins the songwriting process by establishing an album theme and all the songs on an album connect with that overall theme. “Aztlán” is centered on the Spanish conquest – colonization and the defeat of Mexico’s Aztec empire, Tenochtitlán. Some songs chronicle stories from before the Spaniards’ arrival to Mesoamerica, and others draw on their rich culture that transformed from centuries of cultural fusion, which makes them who they are.

On “Aztlán” audiences can expect to hear a mature, grander version of their familiar sound that interweaves metal with symphonic and folk elements. Even though their lyrics are in multiple languages, people of all linguistic backgrounds will hear their stories through the music itself. It is recommended for fans of Amon Amarth, Megadeth, and Maria Grever.

Five years have passed since The Loudest Silence released their debut album ‘Aesthetic Illusion’, making ‘The Core’ to be the first original song after five long years of silence and a first true sign of life, excluding the cover version of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’, which was home-recorded during the worldwide pandemic of COVID, and released in March 2022

A lot has happened during those years: aside from the setbacks due to worldwide waves of pandemics, the band also went through significant line-up changes. Drummer Damir Sinanović – Bumbar and the long time guitarist Mirza Ćorić left the band in 2022, leaving Taida (vocals), Denijal (keyboards & orchestration) and Džemal (bass guitar) as lone members of the band, to be the core of The Loudest Silence.

The band however kept creating new music and is now happy to announce that further new songs will be released in 2024. In fact, the band already demoed 7 new songs and already has a working title for the new album.

While recording and producing the new material, the band really wanted to up their game sound-wise, and are very happy to announce that the new song was engineered, produced and mixed by Joost van den Broek (EPICA, BLIND GUARDIAN, POWERWOLF, AYREON, AFTER FOREVER among others). The vocals and keyboards were recorded in the same studio Taida used for recording her vocals for the albums she did with the legendary Swedish band THERION – Behind the Forest studio in Munich, Germany, while the bass guitar was recorded in Sarajevo.

Some of the new elements in the sound of The Loudest Silence could surprise fans of the debut album, or fans of the symphonic metal genre in general, but that does not concern Denijal.

‘We never thought of The Loudest Silence as a band that is part of a specific genre. We actually do not like this whole idea of genres and sub-genres at all. When we create music, it comes from what we feel and sometimes it’s dark, melancholic and heavy, sometimes it’s not. It’s not about fitting into some niche, but is all about emotion and the urge to get it out. We do not care if it sounds like symphonic metal, doom, black metal or whatever. If it’s what we feel, than so be it.’

The band have released a lyric video for the song as well and that decision is especially important for Taida.

In general, I do not like to talk about my lyrics or explain them. That beats their purpose and I think that people should find their own meaning in them.

But when we were making the video with the amazing DRONICON FILMS, I had to give them some direction, so I did tell them that the idea of ‘The Core’ in general is about the essence of humanity, which we are constantly losing, we seem to be losing the connection to our inner being, our inner values, because we are more driven by others, thoughts of others or greed… But that is just scratching the surface, the lyrics are much, much more than that and that is why it was important for me to have them in the video, especially now when we are once again witnessing what seems to be the worst of humanity.’

The Core’ dropped on Friday, November 3rd at noon (12:00 PM, CET) on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and more. At the same time, the band have released a new animated lyric video for the song on YouTube.

After dropping the first single, “Immer Treu”, “Eisenseite” is another powerful hymn that showcases how much singer Fylgja has been involved in the full album this time. Her valkyrie-like singing expands the band’s sonic spectrum and forms a perfectly harmonizing contrast to Freki’s razor-sharp screams and growls.

After releasing their latest studio album, Dreams of Lands Unseen, uprising Ukrainian metal band IGNEA is ready to take to the stages of the EU and UK supporting Fear Factory. But before embarking on that journey, the fearless five-piece will go on a charity tour throughout their home country of Ukraine in cities, including those that are close to the frontline, fulfilling the words of their president Zelensky stated in February 2022: “you will see our faces, not our backs”.

To hype their fans up, IGNEA have released a live experience video for their song “Daleki Obriyi” (Далекі Обрії’), sung in their native language. It was filmed at the Faine Misto festival in Ukraine – the biggest festival to happen in the country since the beginning of the war – with around 15,000 visitors over the course of three days. At this event, funds for the needs of Ukraine were raised.

As a winner at The Best Ukrainian Metal Act Awards (including “Best Ukrainian Metal Act 2020”) and having gained many millions of Spotify streams with fan-favorites like “Alga”, “Leviathan”, and “Jinnslammer”, IGNEA have already earned their status as an unmissable band-to-watch. The captivating concept album, Dreams of Lands Unseen, was released this past April via Napalm Records, and considering the ongoing the circumstances of the war, the album exceeded all expectations – inviting the listener to follow them into new worlds!

Vocalist Helle Bohdanova comments:

Soon, it’s going to be two years of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine. We’re losing the bravest people who are freeing our territories and who also make it possible for such events as the Faine Misto festival to happen.

This one performance has charged us for months to come. It was the first music event of such a scale in Ukraine since February 2022. And it wasn’t happening just for fun — as it was a charity festival raising funds for the needs of Ukraine through ticket sales and auctions, and even workshops on tactical medicine, and mine and explosive hazard management.

We feel that this is much more powerful than some usual official video, especially for our song in Ukrainian language. Here, you can see Ukrainian metalheads living their moment. Any next minute, there can be an air raid siren, any next minute can be the last one. And we hope that you can feel this energy, like we felt it from the stage.

Italian maestros of modern melodic/symphonic metal TEMPERANCE will unleash their new concept album, Hermitage – Daruma’s Eyes Pt. 2, on October 20, 2023 via Napalm Records! During their successful European tour with Tarja (ex-Nightwish) this spring, the band introduced its new lineup and proved once and for all that this new arrangement is more than just convincing.

Expanding the characteristic sound of the band with a new member – professional opera/metal singer and vocal coach Kristin Starkey – the essence of charismatic singer Michele Guaitoli (Visions of Atlantis) and mastermind singer/guitarist Marco Pastorino (Serenity) reaches a higher level. Guest musicians like Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), Fabienne Erni (Eluveitie, Illumishade), Laura Fella (Faun) and Alessandro Conti (Twilight Force) complement the exciting journey of the new album.

Today, the five-piece have finally released their new single, “Daruma”, together with a colorful official music video that perfectly introduces the mood and exciting story of the multifaceted album. Galloping guitar passages open the single while the album narrator and multitalented Arjen Lucassen guides through the catchy melodies. The dark timbre of singer Kristin Starkey introduces the villain Anningan, who will turn the life of the album’s protagonist Viktor upside down.

We decided to change the production team, 100% from Italy; we worked together with Simone Mularoni on the mixing, as we did in the first three albums of the band, plus for the very first time, I worked together with someone else for the orchestrations: Daniele Mazza, the mastermind of Ancient Bards. The artwork also was made by the talented artist Giada Belviso. Get ready for a journey through magic and dreams, and welcome to Hermitage.”
